May: mobile-friendly pages will get a bigger emphasis
Google's announcement: in May 2016. there will be another algorythm update that will affect ranking.
It all started on 21th April, 2015. That was the date, when Google made "mobile-friendly" attribute a ranking factor.
They provided various helps: a testing page was launched and there is a guide available for web masters.
What does "mobile-friendly" mean?
Long story short: the sites that are using exactly the same content of their desktop versions, and while browsing on such a page like that you shouldn't be able to scroll sideways and you don't have to zoom either. Just like you would view it from your PC or laptop.
60% of the sites on the world are accessed from a mobile device these days.
If you don't want to let these users go, you must follow the current trends! Your site must evolve constantly and act upon user experience.
If your site doesn't show correctly on a mobile devices, for example
- it exceeds the size of the viewport ( width ),
- unreadable, the font is almost impossible to see,
- buttons are not big enough to handle,
- some functions are not working,
make sure you contact your programmer immediately. If you experience more of these problems, you probably have to think about a new website. It will cost you money and time as well. Make sure you plan this in your schedule becuase if the algorythm hits the web in may, it will be hard to get up if your site will be ranked back.
